Laura Nicole: 0:02

Welcome to Your Virtual Assistant Coach, the podcast for moms who want to make money from home on their own terms. I'm your host, Laura Nicole, a successful six-figure earning VA and coach who replaced my college professor's salary in just five months back in 2020 after my daughter was born, and I have never looked back. I'm here to help you build a profitable, flexible VA business that fits into your family's lives so you no longer feel like you're living just to work. Let's dive in.

Laura Nicole: 0:33

One thing that I see new virtual assistants get stuck on constantly is thinking that they cannot sign clients until they have this perfect professional website. So they will spend weeks and just hours upon hours of time trying to build one, picking fonts, writing there about me, tweaking every little thing of how their pricing looks and their services are listed. And honestly, a lot of times women don't even finish this website. And so then they convince themselves altogether that they just can't even be a virtual assistant. But if they do follow through and finish the site, they still have wasted so much time because they've delayed the thing that actually matters in this, which is getting clients, which is signing clients who are going to pay you for your services. And potential clients hire virtual assistants for the person that they are, not for the web page that they have.

Laura Nicole: 1:32

In this episode, I'm going to break down why having a website as a virtual assistant is a resource, not a requirement. Now, the reason I think a lot of women feel the need or the pressure to create a website before they sign their first client is they have this internal fear that no one will take me serious without a website. But there are also a lot of VA coaches out there who will tell you that you do need one and that it is a requirement. And if you have been hanging out with me for any period of time, you probably already know that I very much so disagree with the belief that you need a website and a business name and a logo and an Instagram and all of these marketing tools to be successful as a virtual assistant.

Laura Nicole: 2:17

The simple truth is that potential clients care so much more about their connection with you, their level of clarity around how you are going to help them in their everyday life in their business and the communication that y'all have together than they do about how pretty your website is. Or if you even have a website at all to look at, because they can learn everything they need to know about y'all's connection, about your services and how you'll help them and get a feel for y'all's communication literally just by actually engaging and communicating and creating connection with each other. And one of the reasons I know that you can be successful as a virtual assistant without a website is because I personally have never and still do not to this day have a website for my virtual assistant services. And I have been AVA for pushing six years now.

Laura Nicole: 3:10

It's been my full-time income for pushing five years now. I have been fully booked to whatever extent it is I want to be at any given time for the past five years and have brought in over half a million dollars in income in that time. And I did it all without a website, without an Instagram, without a logo, without a catchy business name. And it's not just me who's been able to do this, but the women inside of the Superstar Assistant Academy have replicated and implemented the proven system that I created based on my experience. And hundreds, hundreds of women have started their VA business, have signed clients, and have money coming in the door on a monthly basis who do not have those things, particularly for today's purposes, a website. What clients actually care about when they're looking to bring a VA onto their team? They want to know very simply: can you help them? Do you understand their needs and what they're looking for support in? Are you easy to work with? Do you all vibe together? Will you be able to communicate efficiently? Because you have to be able to have those two pieces of the puzzle in order to help them in the big picture.

Laura Nicole: 4:26

And again, we show those pieces, right? We show them that we can help, that we understand them, that we're easy to work with through our one-sheet resume, through our networking strategy, through our connections that we make via real communication with these potential clients, and through our time that we spend with these potential clients on discovery calls, really getting to know each other and what that working relationship can look like. So, what I want you to spend your time focusing on instead of trying to figure out HTML code or JavaScript or getting a GoDaddy domain, what I want you to focus on is getting a simple, clean, one-sheet resume put together. Focus your time on actually networking, actually being proactive and starting connections and communication and conversations with your ideal potential client.

Laura Nicole: 5:24

Spend your precious time and energy networking, not designing or attempting to design a website. And when you're in conversation with these potential clients, talk with confidence about your services and what you bring to the table and how you will support these people in their business because, again, that is what they care about. I do want to put a little disclaimer in here, right? At the very top of this episode, I said that creating a website is a resource, not a requirement. So I want to make it very clear that I am not saying, hey, don't do that, don't bother. It's a waste of time. It's just not even worth it. Don't ever make a website. That is not what I'm saying. Okay. What I'm saying is if it's something that you don't really want or you don't feel is really important, or you don't feel is drawn to, or you don't feel like it's a good use of your time, and it will just be something that frustrates you as you're starting out on this journey, then it's not for you. And that's okay. That's the point I want to make here. But if you are someone who either just really finds it important to yourself personally to have a website, or if you're someone who just knows your way around that part of the internet and it actually would be pretty easy and quick to do for you, then by all means go ahead.

Laura Nicole: 6:44

I just want to make sure that that is very clear. It is not a must-have. It will not make or break your ability to be successful as a virtual assistant. But also if it's something you want to do and you can do it, then by all means, it is a great resource to have. It just simply is not a requirement for success in this industry. If you have been feeling stuck in this kind of quote unquote prep mode space of trying to become a virtual assistant and get things started and get things off the ground because you find yourself wanting every single piece to be absolutely perfect and 100% ready before you start, I want you to give yourself permission to just start, to just move forward, to say that what you have in place is enough for now. And you can go out and start talking to potential clients. I also would love to help you get unstuck and out of that prep mode.

Laura Nicole: 7:43

So if you want to come hang out with me in a couple of weeks at my live workshop, I will show you not only how the skills you already have are valuable and monetizable, you know, their skills that we can be turning into services for clients to pay you for, but we are also going to show you exactly how to create that one sheet resume that I mentioned above is truly all you actually need to get started. I'm going to show you exactly what goes in it, what doesn't go in it, what it looks like. I'm going to give you templates of your own so you can just pop in your info. And then you also get to turn that resume in to me and I will edit and optimize it for you so that it is the best representation of you that you can give out to potential clients. There is a link down in the show notes if you want to check out that workshop. It's four hours spread over four days. It is designed for busy moms who are ready to actually start and take action toward becoming a working virtual assistant and creating an income from home this way. Go check out the details on the link in the show notes, and I hope to see you there.
