Welcome to your Virtual Assistant Coach, the podcast for moms who want to make money from home on their own terms. I'm your host, Laura Nicole, a successful six-figure earning VA and coach, who replaced my college professor salary in just five months back in 2020, after my daughter was born, and I have never looked back. I'm here to help you build a profitable, flexible VA business that fits into your family's lives, so you no longer feel like you're living just to work. Let's dive in.
Laura Nicole: 0:32
All right, y'all. Today is a very, very special day on Your Virtual Assistant Coach.Today is our very first guest on the show, and I truly could not think of anyone better to bring on first than my very own daughter, little Miss, my five-year-old. She is, number one, the reason that I became a virtual assistant in the first place. None of this would exist if she didn't exist and number two, because she's the biggest fan of the podcast. She always wants to listen to the episodes. She asks me to replay them again. She thinks it is so fun, and so I thought that it would be incredibly fun for y'all to get to hear from her about what it's like to have her mommy working as a virtual assistant. So I'm going to let her introduce herself and tell you a little bit about her, and then we'll dive in with some questions. I hope you guys enjoy it.
Laura Nicole: 1:31
Alright, can you tell me how old you are?
Little Miss: 1:36
Five and thirty quarters.
Laura Nicole: 1:39
And how long, how much of your life has mommy been a virtual assistant, do you know?
Little Miss: 1:45
At least five years?
Laura Nicole: 1:47
Yeah, like almost your whole life, right?
Little Miss: 1:49
yeah, yes
Laura Nicole: 1:52
What is your favorite color?
Little Miss: 1:55
Purple and pink
Laura Nicole: 1:57
And what's one of your favorite things to do?
Little Miss: 2:01
Probably going to the pool when it's summertime.
Laura Nicole: 2:04
Yeah, like right now, it's 111 degrees outside, huh.
Little Miss: 2:08
And sometimes do it in the winter.
Laura Nicole: 2:12
That's really fun. Yeah, we like to get good use out of our pool, don't we? What else do you want to tell them? What kind of sports do you like doing?
Little Miss: 2:19
Gymnastics and swim.
Laura Nicole: 2:22
Yeah, you're really into those right now, aren't you. Okay, so do you know what mommy does for work?
Little Miss: 2:28
Helps people learn how to be a virtual assistant.
Laura Nicole: 2:32
Yeah, I do. I coach women, and do you know what it means that mommy is also a virtual assistant, like that I actually work with clients, do you have any idea what that means I do?
Little Miss: 2:41
Uh no.
Laura Nicole: 2:45
Where does mommy work from?
Little Miss: 2:47
Home
Laura Nicole: 2:49
I do, I do work from home. And what's your favorite part about mommy working from home?
Little Miss: 2:54
I sometimes get to be in the videos and watch her do it. It's really fun.
Laura Nicole: 2:59
It's really fun to watch mommy do her calls and stuff.
Little Miss: 3:02
Uh-huh, and sometimes when she's at her office I make a little secret hideout and then just kind of sit there. Once I even ate my dinner there.
Laura Nicole: 3:15
You did. You bought a whole hideout under my desk while I was working, huh. And then you ate dinner under there and then you wouldn't let me take it down for like two whole weeks I had a hideout under my desk. What do you not like about mommy working?
Little Miss: 3:29
I don't really know, I just like all of it.
Laura Nicole: 3:32
You do like all of it. Do you think that mommy's job is fun or boring?
Little Miss: 3:39
Probably pretty boring.
Laura Nicole: 3:42
Why do you think it's boring?
Little Miss: 3:44
Because you just kind of gotta work and you don't really get to do anything fun.
Laura Nicole: 3:48
Oh you've helped me do fun things for my work before. Do you remember when you helped me like package up gifts to send out to people and stuff?
Little Miss: 3:57
No.
Laura Nicole: 3:57
Oh, you don't remember that. You were like maybe three years old. You were a good helper. You helped me put everything in the envelopes and put the stamps on them.
Little Miss: 4:06
Well, I don't. I just say that it's not too fun.
Laura Nicole: 4:11
What kinds of things do we get to do and have as a family because mommy is able to work and make money for our family?
Little Miss: 4:19
Money, a house, a car, water, food.
Laura Nicole: 4:24
Did we just go on a fun trip?
Little Miss: 4:26
Yeah, so we played. So we paid for our flight with my mom's money that she made for us.
Laura Nicole: 4:32
So it's important, right? Because mommy can help support our family by working as a virtual assistant.
Little Miss: 4:38
Yes, that is correct.
Laura Nicole: 4:42
I just need y'all to know that she just very assertively grabbed the microphone and put it to her mouth to say that “Yes, that is correct”. Okay, so what is something that we get to do together, because I work from home?
Little Miss: 4:56
Go in the pool.
Laura Nicole: 4:58
Before dinner?
Little Miss: 5:00
Yeah, it's so much fun, it's so much fun!
Laura Nicole: 5:02
How does it make you feel on the days when you wake up in the morning and you're either sicky or you're just really, really tired and feel like you need a break and you don't want to go to school? How does it make you feel that you're able to stay home and come crawl in mommy's bed and watch a show and snuggle in the morning instead of having to go?
Little Miss: 5:21
Very happy.
Laura Nicole: 5:23
It makes you happy. Why?
Little Miss: 5:25
Because I don't have to do all the stuff and I just get to relax.
Laura Nicole: 5:28
Yeah, and is it nice that, even though mommy has to work, that when you're homesick, I can stay and snuggle with you in bed instead?
Little Miss: 5:38
That is really very, very, very nice.
Laura Nicole: 5:41
Okay, I want to talk to you about my business. Do you know what my business is?
Little Miss: 5:47
Virtual assistants?
Laura Nicole: 5:49
What does my business do?
Little Miss: 5:53
You've already asked me this question.
Laura Nicole: 5:55
Okay, do you know what my business is called?
Little Miss: 5:58
No.
Laura Nicole: 5:59
The Superstar…
Little Miss: 6:01
Academy?
Laura Nicole: 6:03
Oh, close the Superstar Assistant Academy. Yeah, do you know what color my business is?
Little Miss: 6:10
Pink and Purple
Laura Nicole: 6:12
And whose favorite colors are those?
Little Miss: 6:16
Mine.
Laura Nicole: 6:17
Huh, is that a coincidence that my business colors are your favorite colors?
Little Miss: 6:22
No, I don't even know what coincidence means.
Laura Nicole: 6:29
How many mommies do you think that I have helped become virtual assistants, like I did?
Little Miss: 6:37
200?
Laura Nicole: 6:39
200? It's more than that. Did you know that?
Little Miss: 6:43
Yes. Okay, then 200 and three and three thousand
Laura Nicole: 6:49
203,000? Not that many, but mommy has helped almost 1,000 other mommies become virtual assistants mine other mommies become virtual assistants.
Little Miss: 7:01
Mind blown.
Laura Nicole: 7:06
Our mind blowed everybody. We were mind blown by that statistic. If you met a mommy right, If you met someone else's mommy who was really sad because she had no work all day and she really missed spending time with her kids, what would you say to her?
Little Miss: 7:26
Um, maybe just to check online and see if she wants to sign up and pew. She can get as much time as she wants with her family
Laura Nicole: 7:36
You mean if she became a virtual assistant?
Little Miss: 7:39
If she just kind of looked online and if I told her to and ordered it and just kind of bought it and just got into the academy, you know, just kind of worked it out so that way she could spend as much time as she want with her family.
Laura Nicole: 7:58
And still be able to make money to help support her family, right?
Little Miss: 8:02
Right.
Laura Nicole: 8:04
So do you think that what mommy does for work is important?
Little Miss: 8:09
Yes
Laura Nicole: 8:10
Why?
Little Miss: 8:11
Because it helps, you help other mommies and it also lets you make money without having to leave your family. But it doesn't really matter, because your family leaves you every single day.
Laura Nicole: 8:27
What do you mean? Like daddy goes to work and you go to school
Little Miss: 8:29
Yes
Laura Nicole: 8:30
Right, but we're able to have control of our days, right? Like if you are sick, you can stay home?
Little Miss: 8:38
Yes
Laura Nicole: 8:41
Or if we want to go do something special or have family come visit, then mommy can just change her days whenever she needs to, right?
Little Miss: 8:47
Yes
Laura Nicole: 8:48
Okay, what is something that you think mommy is really good at?
Little Miss: 8:54
Helping other mommies.
Laura Nicole: 8:56
Why do you think I'm good at it?
Little Miss: 8:58
Because you've been practicing?
Laura Nicole: 9:00
Oh, I've been practicing, right. When we practice something really hard, we get better at it?
Little Miss: 9:04
Yes
Laura Nicole: 9:06
Is there anything about?
Little Miss: 9:09
The superpower of practicing. Like practice power.
Laura Nicole: 9:14
Oh, practice power. I like that. Do you think that practice power is a good thing for mommies who are becoming virtual assistants to have?
Little Miss: 9:23
Yes
Laura Nicole: 9:24
How is it going to help them?
Little Miss: 9:27
Because if you practice, it makes perfect. But not actually perfect, actually it does make it perfect, it makes it perfect, so that way the other mommies can just kind of work through it.
Laura Nicole: 9:40
They can work through it and make it work and become a virtual assistant.
Little Miss: 9:45
Yes
Laura Nicole: 9:47
What is your superpower?
Little Miss: 9:50
Delicate earth power, delicate fire power, delicate ice power and delicate wind power.
Laura Nicole: 9:55
So you have a lot of powers, is what I'm understanding.
Little Miss: 9:59
But my most favorite power is delicate earth power.
Laura Nicole: 10:03
What exactly does delicate earth power do?
Little Miss: 10:08
It is all of the powers.
Laura Nicole: 10:11
Okay, so are you going to use those powers when you get older, or what do you think you're going to do and be when you get older?
Little Miss: 10:19
I have no clue. A scientist.
Laura Nicole: 10:23
You're going to be a scientist.
Little Miss: 10:25
I also could be a princess that can turn into anything. Clueteen mermaids, like all of the magical things, and Clueteen unicorn. Everybody understands that right.
Laura Nicole: 10:40
Okay, so we're either going to be a scientist basing everything in fact, or we're going to be a magical princess who can turn into anything, including unicorns. Did I get that right?
Little Miss: 10:52
No, it's also mermaids and unicorns, but everybody better understand that okay?
Laura Nicole: 10:59
Got it. I think everyone understands that. Now, do you think you're gonna be a mommy when you get big?
Little Miss: 11:05
Yes, because I'm gonna have 15 children.
Laura Nicole: 11:07
15 children?
Little Miss: 11:10
Yes
Laura Nicole: 11:12
Holy guacamole. Do you know how many kids that is?
Little Miss: 11:15
Yes, 15.
Laura Nicole: 11:20
How in the world are you going to support 15 kids when you're a mommy?
Little Miss: 11:32
I'll be a virtual assistant saying I can also use my powers and create lots of memes with my powers, so that way I can work it out perfectly nice and smooth.
Laura Nicole: 11:38
Okay, so mommy has been a virtual assistant right since you were a teeny, tiny little baby, so I know that you have no memory of when mommy used to go to work. But do you remember what mommy used to do for work before I became a virtual assistant?
Little Miss: 11:54
Work at a restaurant.
Laura Nicole: 11:36
You actually got to go eat lunch at the restaurant that I used to work at when we were on our trip, didn't you?
Little Miss: 12:02
Yes.
Laura Nicole: 12:04
Was it fun to see?
Little Miss: 12:05
Yes
Laura Nicole: 12:06
Was it funny to imagine mommy being there making people sandwiches?
Little Miss: 12:11
Yes
Laura Nicole: 12:13
Why?
Little Miss: 12:13
Because I just don't really think restaurants really match your personality.
Laura Nicole: 12:20
That's interesting. Did you know that when you were first born, mommy was actually a teacher? I was a college professor.
Little Miss: 12:27
No.
Laura Nicole: 12:28
You've never heard that?
Little Miss: 12:29
No.
Laura Nicole: 12:30
That's pretty crazy that you've never heard that before. You just thought I worked at restaurants?
Little Miss: 12:34
Yeah
Laura Nicole: 12:35
Yeah, mommy was actually a teacher for about four years before you were born.
Little Miss: 12:40
Mine blown.
Laura Nicole: 12:45
So think back to when you were like two years old, three years old.
Little Miss: 12:52
When I was three years old I was kind of a handful.
Laura Nicole: 13:00
Okay, so think back to when you were like two and three years old and you used to take naps all day and you were home all day with me. Who was the person who always got to put you down for your naps?
Little Miss: 13:10
You, mommy.
Laura Nicole: 13:12
Me. We got to do nap time and bedtime together every day, huh?
Little Miss: 13:16
Yes.
Laura Nicole: 13:18
That's pretty special that we got to be together to do those things, don't you think?
Little Miss: 13:21
Yeah, and we still do them together.
Laura Nicole: 13:25
Yeah, we still do. We've done them together your whole life. But that doesn't get to happen for a lot of mommies. Do you know how special that is? It's very special that mommy was able to do my work from home and I could stop whenever and come do nap time with you. Did it make you happy that mommy gets to do your nap times and bed times with you?
Little Miss: 13:44
Yes, very happy.
Laura Nicole: 13:45
All right, girlfriend, I am so freaking excited that you were able to come on the podcast. Do you think it's going to be cool to listen to this in the car on the way to school when it comes out?
Little Miss: 13:55
Yes, very cool.
Laura Nicole: 13:58
It's gonna be your voice on the in the car too, not just mommy's?
Little Miss: 14:02
Yeah, that's gonna be so fun!
Laura Nicole: 14:04
All right, well, we are getting ready to go. We're gonna go hop in the pool for a little afternoon swim, but before we do that, is there anything that you want to say to all of the mommies who are listening to this podcast?
Little Miss: 14:18
Yes, thank you for coming on this podcast. See you next time. Bye!
Laura Nicole: 14:23
Hopefully y'all have enjoyed hearing from Little Miss. She is truly one of a kind, such a big, freaking personality and I just love her more than I can put into words. I am so thankful that she was excited to come and hang out and do this podcast with me and, honestly, it's just so surreal to think that this is what our life is right now. This is never what I would have imagined my life or motherhood to look like when I pictured it prior to getting pregnant and prior to having her, but now it's like I couldn't imagine it any other way. I could not imagine it any other way than getting to be with her for every nap time and every bedtime, every bath time, every big milestone and just everything in between. So if you're a mama who's also looking for that freedom and flexibility to be there for all of the things of their little one's childhood, but you also still need to be generating an income and helping to support your family financially, then I really, really want to encourage you to consider virtual assistance. It truly is an opportunity like no other and I would be so honored to help walk you through the process of getting started and getting started successfully.
Laura Nicole: 15:35
I'm going to link my free getting started masterclass down in the show notes for you today. It's a 60 minute masterclass that's going to give you a ton of information about what a virtual assistant is and does, along with three separate action item steps that you can implement to get the ball rolling if you feel like this is something that you really want to pursue, because by the end of the 60 minute video, you will definitely have an understanding of what virtual assistance is, what it could look like for you and if it truly is a good fit for your personality and your goals and your lifestyle.
Laura Nicole: 16:06
And if you feel like it is, I would be so freaking honored to be the one who gets to walk you through that process and show you exactly how to get things started. All you have to do is click the link in the show notes, drop in your name and email and you will immediately get that video emailed to you.
