Welcome to Your Virtual Assistant Coach, the podcast for moms who want to make money from home on their own terms. I'm your host, Laura Nicole, a successful six-figure earning VA and coach who replaced my college professor salary in just five months back in 2020 after my daughter was born, and I have never looked back. I'm here to help you build a profitable, flexible VA business that fits into your family's lives so you no longer feel like you're living just to work. Let's dive in.
Laura Nicole: 00:33
Hello, hello, y'all. It has been a hot minute. I kind of accidentally took a bit of a break from recording the show. And I apologize for the random interruption, but I was being very transparent and vulnerable here. I was struggling with my mental health, not to like a dangerous degree, but enough that being productive and showing up for work and doing things like the podcast was really, really hard. And it's not that it's easy yet, but I have reached the point where it was like, okay, I have to make a decision here. Do I continue to wallow and be frustrated and allow myself to kind of give in to this desire to just sleep all the time or you know, give myself reasons and excuses why it's okay if I put off X, Y, and Z. And ironically enough, my TikTok feed got filled with a lot of mindset and manifestation videos at just the right time that I've honestly it was kind of like they were personally calling me out. And so we're here. We're here. I have made the decision as of literally yesterday morning that we're turning the ship around and we're gonna get shit done. So we are back. We are back. We will have weekly episode drops. Um, and again, I apologize for the kind of random drop-off there for a couple of weeks.
Laura Nicole: 02:26
All that being said, um, this week's episode, I want to talk about something that probably seems really basic, but I really want to kind of hammer in a little bit on who virtual assistant work is for and who it's not for. Because I talk to all different kinds of women and I talk to women who have very different goals for why they're considering virtual assistant work, whether they want to supplement income by just $500 to $1,000, if they want to bring in like a steady supplemental of two to three thousand, or if they want to fully replace their income. And all of that is well and good. But when I'm referring to and talking about who this is for and who it's not for, I'm not referring to how much money you want to make, or if you're a stay-at-home mom, or if you have a job and whether it's work from home or work out of the home. I'm not talking about any of that. What I'm talking about is the type of person that you are, the type of woman that you are, the mindset that you have and the work ethic that you have, because that is really what matters. And I have seen this prove itself time and time and time again as I have coached a thousand plus women over the past four years. So I'm gonna break it down very simply for you. And hopefully you'll be able to kind of see yourself in these explanations of the type of woman this is a good fit for versus who it's not a good fit for. And if you end up finding yourself aligned more with the woman who it's not a good fit for, that's not saying anything negative about you. It's just helping you see if this particular path and this particular opportunity is actually in alignment for you and something worth putting your time and energy and effort into.
Laura Nicole: 04:26
So who is it for, right? Who is virtual assistant work for? It is for the women who are willing to work and show up consistently. For women that know that if they trust the process and they implement the process that is shown to them by somebody who has been there, done that, and had it work and prove that it's duplicatable, trusting that it will work, being able to put your faith in the fact that if you just do the things that you're told to do and then you do them consistently and you put in the effort to actually implement them, that ultimately it will work. And we cannot put a specific timeline on that because it is different for every woman. But knowing that if you're doing the things, it is going to work in your favor. Because honestly, there's literally no reason for it not to. Again, if you're implementing and you're being consistent, because the demand in the market is one million percent there. It also is a good fit for women who are motivated, not just by making money, right? Obviously, we work to make money, but for women who are motivated by their why for wanting to make money in a flexible way. So for the women who are more motivated by the reason they want to make money in this way versus being motivated by the actual money being made. And for most of the women that I coach, the vast majority of them are moms. Not all of them are, but the vast majority are moms. And the reason for the flexibility is wanting to be able to show up for their kids and their family on their own terms and on their own schedule, right? Not having to ask for PTO because your kid is sick, not having to miss the random Tuesday, 1 p.m. performance at school because you have a meeting in office that you can't get out of.
Laura Nicole: 06:33
And it's so important for women to be motivated by the why versus just motivated by the money, because sometimes it takes time for the money to show up. Because again, you have to be consistent. You have to implement consistently. And if you're only motivated by seeing the money in your bank account that you're making from doing this, honestly, you're probably gonna lose motivation and momentum and give up before the money has even made it to your account. And the last key point that I want to share that tells me that a woman is a good fit for virtual assistance is when they're willing and able to put their money where their mouth is and get shit done. Are you willing to go all in? Are you willing to go into this with the mindset of I'm doing this, I'm gonna give it 100% and I'm going to make this work. Because the women who have the mindset that they're going to make this work, like that failure is not an option, they are the ones who are willing to do the consistent showing up and networking and implementing that is required to be really successful as a virtual assistant. But women who are not willing to put their money where their mouth is and they come into it more so with the mindset of, I hope this works, versus I'm going to make this work. There's a good chance it's not going to work for you the way that you want it to. Okay, so those are some of the key characteristics, mindset, personality traits of who the women are that virtual assistants' work is a good fit for.
Laura Nicole: 08:21
But we have to look at the flip side of this and talk about who it's not for. Because virtual assistant work is absolutely not for the woman who wants the instant gratification or the quote unquote get rich quick answer. Because again, there's a lot of money to be made in this industry. There's so much demand and there's so much opportunity. And you truly can bring in thousands and thousands of dollars a month, but it's not something that's going to happen next month. I know our culture and our society is so instant gratification in that all of our social media feeds are just full of people telling you to sell digital products or do affiliate marketing and just make one PDF in Canva and then sell it for $17 and have 10 people buy it a day and suddenly you've made $17,000 a month, right? Like, number one, that's not realistic. That's not how that actually works. There's not really a get rich quick answer. But if you are looking to make and create a form of income that would be considered like a passive income, then virtual assistance is not for you because this is not a passive income. It is also definitely not for the woman who wants clients handed to them. I have women ask me a lot if they join my program or if they come into my training, do I give them clients? And the answer is always no. Number one, it would be a complete full-time job for me to try to source clients for my students. But more importantly, I want you to know how to find your own clients. Because the way that I teach you to find clients is rooted in the principle of having actual alignment with those people on a human-to-human level. And there's quite literally no way that that would happen and be the case if I were just doling out clients to you. So if you are expecting to just hop into this and have somebody just hand you a client, that's not how it works, right? And it's not how you should want it to work because then you're stuck working with just anyone. And that's not the point here. All right. We don't want to work with just anyone. VA work is also not for the women who aren't willing to put themselves out there and step out of their comfort zone to achieve what they say they want.
Laura Nicole: 10:48
Because yes, I can absolutely give you the roadmap and the step-by-step process and literally walk you through it and show you and hold your hand and give you coaching and answer your questions. But if you're not willing to put yourself out there and share with your personal network or bring it up in conversation with people or start those networking conversations on social media, then it is not going to work for you. You have to be willing to step out of your comfort zone. That is where growth happens. And it's also not for you. This is my last one. If you don't believe it's actually possible for you individually, if you come into it with the mindset of, I've seen this work for other women, I know it worked for Laura. She says she's had all these students who it's worked for. I just really don't think it's gonna work for me because of X, Y, and Z. Then you are absolutely correct that it's not going to work for you because your brain has already made up its truth that this isn't possible for you. And you can see how that belief is in polar opposite of women who it is for who believe that I'm gonna this is gonna work because I'm going to make it work.
Laura Nicole: 12:02
So if you've listened to these and you're identifying with the woman who this is for, and you're like, yeah, I'm in this. I know exactly why it's so important to me to make flexible income. I know that I'm willing to do the work and I'm willing to show up consistently, and I'm ready to get shit done. Like I am ready to pour into this and be a beginner again and be a student and implement and be consistent. If that is you and you are not yet inside of the VA income lab, then respectfully, what are you doing? Because the VA Income Lab, y'all, has literally every single piece of this puzzle that you need, including coaching directly from me, and a little cherry on top of guest speakers that come in every month to help give you an even more rounded education of how to be successful in this online space. And the membership is only $19 a month, you guys. You can get literally the step-by-step system with the support of direct coaching from me and a community of 160 plus other women and moms who are also of this get shit done mindset for $19 a month. All right. So if that's you and you're like, oh my God, this is perfect. I need to get in. There is a link down in the show notes that you can tap, come join us, hop in. I can't wait to welcome you. And if you're not quite to that point yet where you're like, yes, this is it, this is me. I'm 100%. But you're willing to work, right? You have the qualities and the characteristics of the woman who this is for. You just want to learn more about exactly what virtual assistance is and what it actually entails and looks like prior to making that decision of like, okay, I'm gonna make this happen. Then I'm hosting a live masterclass specifically with you in mind on August 28th. And this class is going to do exactly that. It's going to give you more insight and information, and you'll leave that class with a really solid understanding, not only of what virtual assistance really is, but also you'll know by the end of it if it's for you or not. So if you'd like to get registered for that masterclass, the link to do so is also down in the show notes. It is completely free. And I look forward to seeing you either in the masterclass or inside of the income lab.
